EPC Warning Illuminated

2020 Kamiq 1.5 tsi SE

I was just driving along normally to home yesterday when suddenly the EPC warning illuminated for no apparent reason. Continued to home with caption still illuminated, but car seemed to be driving normally and despite then switching car off, then on again several times, no change, and in addition lost stop/start function (caption said "error" !) and also cruise control. Contacted Skoda main dealer who was reasonably affable, but could not offer any simple explanation for problem, so booked car in for investigation (diagnostic check) ( in 10 days time !!!)
Today, with EPC still illuminated, took car to a nearby small one man garage (SEAT owner so used to system) who kindly ran a computer diagnostic check and although there was a lot of "jargon" on the computer screen, he didn't see any major issues reported. On completion of the check, restarted the car, and low and behold NO EPC caption! He suspects it maybe something to do with car needing a software update at the main dealers, and diagnostic check somehow removes spurious defect warnings, but they may re-occur ! Will await main dealers verdict (in10 days time !!) and advise their conclusions, but if it is simply a software update issue - what a faff, and how often is it going to be necessary ? Anyone else experienced this ?

Had something similar a few months back. Called dealer, they pointed me to Skoda Assist as likely to act quicker. They came out and although the engine lights had gone by then, they recognised it as an issue fixed by a software upgrade which they did on the spot. No recurrence since.

In this instance it seems to have been an overzealous emissions sensor, but I wouldn't mind betting there might be some other similar sensitivities in the engine to trigger those useless lights.

Visited Skoda main dealer today for further diagnostic check (EPC warning had not reappeared) and they advised that yes there was a coded defect showing, but of a minor nature, however the check also showed that there was a "Skoda directive" outstanding which apparently requied a software upgrade and covered a number of issues, amongst which was unnecessary EPC warnings occurring randomly ! They duly carried out the upgrade and now all appears to be OK.(fingers crossed). An added bonus was they also valeted the car so customer service is not dead altogether !

When Karoq had management light illuminate and down to limp mode I had the no stop start error. Dealer says it resets to this while fault condition in case car can't be started it trying to get to safety/ dealers etc. I Karoq was diagnosed as turbo fail (21Kmiles)
