I decided that the kamiq was due a quick hoover, and whilst in the boot area, would take a quick look at the spare wheel, check pressure etc. At first it was a real struggle to remove it from the spare wheel recess, but eventually I managed to extract it (was pretty tight fit in the recess). I was surprised to find that it was fitted with a 205/55 R 16 tyre, whereas the four road wheels had 205/55 R 17 wheels/ tyres !! There's no way a 205/55 R 17 sized spare would fit into the boot recess, so I'm assuming that Skoda decided to " standardise" with the R 16 for all Kamiq spare wheels, regardless of the actual road wheel size fitted! Has anyone else stumbled across the anomaly and will it be a problem to fit a R16 size wheel should the need arise, with the other three remaining road wheels being R17?

It's a space saver spare, so it's only for short term use and limited to about 50mph. It's fairly common where a spare is supplied these days, but is far from ideal.
Had a 2021 1.5 SEL manual with reversing camera and Simply Clever pack in quartz grey. After a number of mostly software issues, it's been replaced with a Kia Soul.

Still better than just a can of gunk, anyway!

I have 18" wheels as standard, but still with a 16" spare. The nice thing is that it's not one of the skinny space savers.

Ooo. Never noticed that!
I have the same 18inch wheels, and 'proper' spare... But never checked the size?
I'll have a look.

Have a good look because although my spare is of "normal" tyre size, it's still only a temporary spare and is only good for 50 miles @ 50mph.

My space-saver is a 195/60 R16, for what it's worth - as backup for 205/55 R17. I take it from the above that this isn't always the case.

It's slightly smaller overall diameter, but the 60% ratio means the sidewall is deeper than the 205/55 so the inch difference on the rims is not as pronounced as one might expect. According to tiresize.com and my own calculations, there's about 0.7" in it.

My spare is a “space saver” 16” size ordered as optional extra from new. I have 18” tyres standard on the SEL at time of ordering.

According to tiresize.com (which I found reliable before), the low-profile 215/45R18 SEL tyres actually end up slightly smaller in diameter than the 205/55R17 tyres on the SE, so the best match of the range (under half an inch difference in diameter) to the space-saver 195/60R16 spare.

SEL/MC: 215/45R18 - diameter 25.6"
SE: 205/55R17 - diameter 25.9"
S: 205/60R16 - diameter 25.7"
Space-saver spare: 195/60R16 - diameter 25.2"

Sorry! I lied (unintentionally!) in my original post. On re-checking the spare wheel, the tyre fitted is a 195/60 R16 as other members have also found, and not 205/55 R16 as I originally indicated, but with that said, the issue is fundamentally the same. Given the responses, it seems not to be too much of a problem, and as commented, is a whole lot better than a " can of gunk" so I am thankful for small mercies, and thanks for the responses.
