Having for a long time thought the somewhat hit and miss reliability of wireless AA was down to the phone, my experiments have now demonstrated its almost certainly the Bolero head unit that sometimes does not start up with WLAN enabled. This is usually corrected by forcing a restart with a long hold on the Bolero power button (the first indicator to me it's a car rather than phone issue) but that does involve the risk of the graphics failure I've documented. If the phone doesn't connect and I go to the WLAN settings, the enabled checkbox is stubbornly set to off, and does not respond to being tapped. Next step will be to see if there's anything in the hidden menus to reset just WLAN rather than the whole infotainment! At least I always have the cable option for fallback. Whether this issue applies to any of the other infotainment units I'm not sure, but I rather suspect it might not be isolated.
