Almost since Day 1 I experienced difficulty in pulling away when the engine would simply die, hot or cold, but didn't do it every time. Today I noticed the rev. counter was indicating just over 600 rev/ min when the car was stationary, engine temp normal, which seems a tad low for normal engine idle speed and I wonder if this is a contributary reason why the engine occasionally stalls when pulling away. Has anyone else experienced this or is it maybe just my heavy left foot !

My 1.0 manual shows @ 900 rpm when idling.
I would have thought idle speed would not affect how you move off as surely you would raise the revs to suit the conditions, loading, and position of the vehicle? (And the speed that you want to move off).
Is the clutch working freely? Handbrake not sticking?

seems strange.

Good luck with finding out what is going on.
Rags.
