Bought a new Kamiq a few weeks ago and very disappointed with the road noise and firm ride on the 18 inch wheels. The dealer is going to look at the problem for me but I don’t think it will make any difference. Just a bad choice of car based on the information I was given and on car review sites which I now know not to trust. So resigned to the fact that I am probably stuck with a less than adequate car for the next 3 years. I have seen a few similar comments in the last few weeks so interested to know if anyone on the forum has had a the same thoughts/experience?

Looking at buying a kamiq ,was looking for a puma but the prices are going through the roof, kamiq seems to be the best value for money,I saw a kamiq 110 bhp with auto park, adaptive cruise, rear camera, blis for £16000, a puma wont get anything near that, good thing is that you can get an electric boot retro fitted, where as the puma if you dont have it fitted new then its hard luck according to ford,I really want this feature next time round,I like both cars

Recently took delivery of a 1.5TSI Monte Carlo and did plenty of research online before.
Watched numerous videos and read quite a few articles, the road noise and harsher ride associated with the bigger wheels was mentioned in most of them as far as I can remember. I thought it was well documented.....

I'm surprised you didn't know about the firm ride on 18" wheels as well.
I did lots of research before buying and took 2 different Kamiqs out to try them. I was aware of the reports but didn't think it was as bad as the Seat Leon, or the MG that we tried. I'm more than happy with the 'firm ride', and road noise. In fact, I'd say it was smoother and quieter than my old Qashqai.
Sorry you are not happy with your choice.

Have you considered different tyres instead?
My mate had a Merc, and it was terrible. He was advised to try different tyres, and the difference was amazing!

Rags is right. Tyres are the only thing that will affect road noise so what your dealer is going to do I don’t know. You could talk to a type specialist who can advise as yes, some tyres are much better than others with less noise. There may be a compromise such as early wear rate or less grip in wet etc etc. I have the SEL with 18” & must say I don’t find it a problem but I hope you achieve a satisfactory conclusion.
