Kamiq side skirts

I have a Kamiq SE that was eventually delivered a few weeks ago. Whilst waiting for it, I ordered and received a pair of Skoda side skirts from SuperSkoda in the Czech Republic (where the car is made) - my SE doesn't come with sideskirts altho higher models do I believe. Anyway, they were advertised as "Fits all Kamiq models", but when I try to align them to the car they simply don't !!, in particular the brackets simply point in the wrong direction. The supplier is trying to understand the problem but seems unconvinced - they are after-all official Skoda parts so should fit. OK, so my plea for help is this - does anyone have a Kamiq with side skirts already fitted - I think the SE-L and Monte Carlo do - who would be willing to take a pic of how these are fitted underneath, specifically how the brackets attach to the car. I could clearly go to my local dealer but want to avoid that embarrassment if possible - they will probably say I should have gone to them first - they may be right !! Any help appreciated.

That’s tough mate. I have an sel model ordered 30/12/19 & took delivery March 1st. I don’t have side skirts fitted & didn’t realise they were available or an option. Hope you get it resolved & do let us have some photos if successful

Lofty, thanks for the reply. Ah ok I thought SE-L models had the skirts - I'm referring to the grey or black plastic trim that runs along the sills just below the doors. On my SE model it's just bare painted metal. Maybe only on 2020 model years then.

My dad's SEL has body colour trim there. I think the grey is linked to the Scoutline version which was announced in May.

Hi Richard... I think I may owe you an apology. Looking at my car, what I perceived as body mouldings could be interpreted as side skirts. I don’t know how they’re fixed but if the local dealer can’t help, try a good body shop.

Lofty - many thanks for the pics - yes that's them, and I gather from Skoda that they are called "lower beam cladding" - rolls of the tongue !!. I wont bore people with too much more detail yet, but SuperSkoda.com in the Czech Republic where I got them from have now admitted that other customers have had problems fitting these skirts (after initially dismissing my concerns), and some have had to cut off brackets to fit !!. I'm currently getting quotes from Skoda/VW approved bodyshop to fit them - they need to be glued/bonded on apparently. If I had known the trouble these would cause (maybe I was naive) I wouldn't have bothered - they cost over £300 to buy, and may cost the same again to fit. Basic problem is that whilst SuperSkoda.com say "fits all Kamiq models", what they don't say is they are not designed to be retrofitted to models not originally factory fitted with them. I'll provide an update/warning to others when I know more...

I feel for you mate, so frustrating & bloody expensive at the same time. Glued on shouldn’t be a problem. When I worked at a local Honda dealer (post retirement) the Tech’s used to have to fit door protector mouldings & once they were on !!!,. God help the tech if he didn’t get them in the correct position because you just couldn’t get them back of without ruining it. Good luck. (At least it’s nice to see some posts on this forum as I’m a little disappointed so far. Nowhere near the contributions as on my previous car’s forum) 🤞

So, to cut a rather long update shorter... visited my local Skoda main dealer, and 2 Skoda/VW approved bodyshops. Only quote so far is £440.86 to bond them (bonkers !!). It seems that if fitted in the factory there would have been around 10 "pins" per side that these skirts would have simply clicked to, but for aftermarket fitment they need to be bonded. Ok, perhaps a DIY job, but on a new car, and I'm 66 years old, that may not be an option. SuperSkoda.com have admitted they should have been clearer in their online description beyond "fits all Kamiq models" and are now sending me the Skoda approved bonding agent f.o.c. - so still a job to do - they stopped short of giving me a refund.
So what have I learned - these sideskirts ideally need professional fitting/bonding and are not a simple DIY fit; to be fair to SuperSkoda.com they have responded quickly to all my emails and tried to be helpful, if rather stubborn; I need to be more wary/less naive when buying such things...

Tough mate, as they say we never stop learning just a pity when it’s a costly exercise. Hope it fits well & you can send us some pics
