I think a lot of the activation is based on the speed that you approach the vehicle in front rather than the distance although accepting that distance is still a factor.

For the dealer to say not covered under warranty because ‘computer said no’ is absolute bollocks. For a car only a few weeks old that is disgraceful. I would threaten to return the car simply because of their response.
